In Haifa, Israel, the golden-domed Shrine of the Báb sits majestically on the central terrace of the Baha’i Gardens, one of the most heavily visited sites in the Middle East. The Shrine is the final resting place of the Báb, the Prophet-Herald of the Baha’i Faith.
UNESCO has designated the Shrine of the Báb and Baha’i Gardens a World Heritage Site with “profound spiritual meaning” that “demonstrates outstanding universal value.”
The Shrine’s exquisite facade and dome were constructed around and above an older, historic masonry building using an innovative reinforced concrete structure, then finished with Italian marble, Italian stained glass windows, and ceramic roof tiles fire-gilded in the Netherlands.
To assist the Baha’i World Centre with restoration and conservation of the Shrine of the Báb, Mr. Armbruster has provided condition surveys and conservation management plans, outlined restoration needs and consulted on restoration projects.
